How to Lose Weight When Eating Out

The last five days have been a blur. I just got through moving my daughter and son-in-law to their new place in the Rocky Mountains. During these five days we ate out every meal! I’ve been told you can’t lose weight eating out but when I got on the scale this morning I had lost three pounds! Yes, physical activity played a part, but not as much as you might think (I spent 17 hours on my butt driving the moving van!). So how did I do it? 

  • I limited myself to two meals a day and no snacking.
  • For the most part I made healthier choices. Subway and Chipotle’s made it relatively easy to do this.
  • OK, I did have a single slice of greasy pizza on the way to Colorado and a mini-chocolate Sundae before coming home; but I followed the 80/20 rule!
  • I resisted the urge to eat the chocolate chip cookies I saw in the airport. After all, if I gained weight on this trip what would I blog about this morning?

Bottom line? You can lose weight when eating out but you have to be very mindful about what you’re doing.
