It’s almost swimsuit season, and lots of people are aching to lose a few pounds. So I want to highlight a fun strategy that takes advantage of the nice weather and extra daylight…walking.
Walking is a great form of exercise for a number of reasons.
- You can do it almost anywhere.
- You can go alone or in a group.
- It doesn’t take much prep time. Just lace up your flashiest kicks and off you go.
If you find a few people you enjoy talking to, make group walks a habit. Group walking was one of the major components of Oklahoma City’s “This City is Going on a Diet” Campaign. Roughly 48,000 participants logged a total of over 1.2 million miles and lost a combined 1 million pounds! So even if you feel like you have a million pounds to lose, adding walking to healthy food choices is a great way to enjoy greater health.
