Every night I’d set my alarm for 5am only to get up at 7.
For quite a while I’ve wanted to start my days earlier. Once I’d accumulate the needed motivation, I’d set the alarm for 5am only to be disappointed when I’d slip out of bed after pressing snooze 13 times.
About a month ago I stumbled on a potential solution! If I had listened to my wife I would have found the solution four months before.
Try getting up at 6am first
If you’re like me, when you set a goal it’s tempting to set your pace at 0 to 60. Even though I hadn’t awakened before 7am for months, I’d confidently set the alarm for 5. I can do this I’d think. And sometimes I would, for like ONE morning.
For the past four weeks I’ve been reliably rousing at 6am. Sometimes I even awake a few minutes before the alarm goes off.
So this morning I was thinking… “maybe I’m finally ready to try setting the alarm for 5.”
What’s a goal that you’ve achieved by taking one or even two small steps first?
Maybe my story or a comment below might spark an idea on how to cut your weight loss goal into smaller steps.
