Want to get more active? Try this first

After ten minutes of hopping up and down and rolling left and right I thought to myself, “I should do this more often.”

Frisbee has become the favorite after dinner pastime for our family. Colored plastic discs dot the lawn. Games range from the highly competitive “see who can throw it the farthest” to the highly dangerous “watch dad get the Frisbee off the roof.”

My wife and I have even found ourselves hypnotically tossing the disc back and forth, trying to best the last toss well after the munchkins have lost interest.

Here are 3 reasons why you should give Frisbee a try.

  1. Frisbee doesn’t take a lot of skill – I’ve found the Frisbee is the great equalizer. You don’t have to be a jock, or even athletic to play and have fun.
  2. You can start small – You can play only yards apart and move very little or you can gradually turn the game of catch into an acrobatic workout. If you’re looking to up the fun meter, try the game KanJam.
  3. Frisbee is social – You can play and carry on a conversation. All you need is a mildly social partner and time will fly by.
